Global Philanthropy Program Manager


Needed Immediately in Downtown NYC for a Long-Term Contract


 



 


Our client is seeking to fill a Program Manager contract position in NYC which will oversee The Fellowship Initiative (TFI), a comprehensive enrichment program that offers young minority men access to the academic, social, and emotional supports they need to succeed in school and achieve professional success.  They are currently looking to recruit a cohort of students in Chicago, and this position will oversee the program’s operations in this market.  


 


The Program Manager will report to TFI’s Executive Director and will be responsible for critical activities including, but not limited to, the following:




  • Program Development: Utilize lessons learned from initial cohort to evolve TFI program framework to assist with redesigning curriculum content and developing new experiential learning opportunities that will effectively serve future program participants


  • Partnership Management: Identify potential local program partners, vet them for their efficiency and effectiveness, negotiate effective partnership agreements, and oversee the performance and delivery of best-in-class programming by those partners


  • Financial Management: Manage budgets and act decisively to control costs in each market


  • Communications: Help craft strategies to capture and disseminate information about the programs that will build support for it among diverse internal and external audiences


  • Activating Volunteers:  Lead the local process of recruiting, matching, training, and monitoring mentor/mentee relationships


  • External Representation:  Represent the program in meetings with internal senior leaders, program partners, Fellows’ parents, school leaders, interested community members and other constituencies and maintain a productive network of professional relationships with key government, philanthropic, and not-for-profit leaders


  • Performance Management:  Lead local efforts to collect, analyze, and interpret multiple data points that help benchmark Fellows’ academic, social, and emotional development and adjust program elements to better support their holistic development

Qualifications




  • Bachelors' degree in a relevant field required; graduate degree preferred


  • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant work experience required in program development and/or management


  • Passion for and deep knowledge of and experience related to youth development


  • Understanding of college access issues, post-secondary career pathways, and the non-profit sector


  • Proven ability to motivate individuals and build a strong organizational culture grounded in respect, tolerance, and integrity


  • Ability to assess the leadership, track record, fiscal health, and capacity of a non-profit organization to partner with the program


  • Demonstrated ability to think critically about program design and implementation


  • Creative, flexible, and collaborative with an ability to work in a team-oriented environment; demonstrates a high degree of initiative; results-oriented


  • Ability to continually seek information and look for new approaches to processes and practices


  • Welcomes feedback as a means to personal and professional growth


  • Excellent written and oral communication skills


  • Personal presence needed to represent the Foundation in diverse forums and organizational relationships


  • Strong ability to multi-task


  • Ability to travel

  • Employment Type: long-term contract - 12+ months
