Position Summary
The Business Analyst will create and/or update process maps using complete or no existing documentation. In all cases, the resource will use one of the following or a combination of existing maps, existing process documentation (policies/procedures) or discussions with subject matter experts to complete the process map. The process maps will include references to risks and controls, therefore an understanding of risk and control identification is required.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (in order of importance):
Phase 1 - Pre-work (Necessary for creating process map draft)
- Use existing templates to gather data and documents from assigned business SME’s
- May have to answer questions and guide SME’s in the right direction regarding the right types/level of information to provide
- Review data and follow up with necessary questions necessary for mapping
- Confirm estimate of the number of process maps to be completed and be able to align to existing higher level 1&2 process maps
- Provide project lead with feedback on potential road blocks
Phase 2 – Create Process Map Draft
- Create process map draft based on Pre-work documentation
- Update PowerPoint decks with process map for presentation to business leads and SME’s
Phase 3 – Process Mapping Session
- Attend mapping session with business leads and SME’s and be able to conduct a walkthrough of process map draft to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Document process changes, risks and controls discussed during mapping sessions (necessary for updating final process map)
Phase 4 – Final Process Mapping creation and validation
- Update final process map based on discussions during Process Mapping Session
- This includes documentation of process changes, risks and controls identified during mapping session
- Update PowerPoint decks with process map documentation for presentation to business leads and SME’s for final validation
Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
2+ years experience with process mapping
2+ years experience with Risk and Control identification
Expertise may include Operational Risk, Audit or similar banking industry knowledge
Proven ability to create process maps via use of various sources of information (starting from blank page to existing process map)
Ability to identify potential process roadblocks and escalate concerns to business management
Ability to cope effectively with change; comfortable with ambiguity.
Strong organizational skills, ability to work independently
Strong time management skills
Strong attention to detail, focus on work accuracy
Ability to exercise good judgment
Ability to verbally communicate results and status of work procuct
Competent in using mapping applications (preferably Visio)
Strong proficiency in MS Office and Visio required.
Capable of working under minimum supervision.
Undergraduate degree and equivalent work experience required
Additional Details:
• Pay Rate: $40.00 per hour
• Hours: Monday - Friday, 8AM-5PM
