The Pre-paid Card business is part of the Core Cash Management business unit within the Corporate & Investment Bank. Today, these products generate more than $300 million in annual revenue and disburse payments & benefits to more than 12 million individuals monthly.
Consisting of Public Sector Pre-paid, Corporate Pre-paid, International Pre-paid, and Consumer Directed Healthcare, each product delivers payments and benefits to individual cardholders for a variety of applications (e.g. food-stamps, unemployment insurance, child support, payroll, rebates, and health savings accounts). Revenue is generated both at the cardholder and client levels from fees, interchange and interest on cardholder balances.
The Pre-paid Card finance team interacts and supports multiple CIB management groups (e.g. Product, Operations, & Client Service), as well as other functional partners, to provide financial reporting/analysis, & metrics forecasting necessary for both tactical and strategic decision making of the business.
Roles and Responsibilities:
• Support the budget and forecast processes, including reporting, relevant metrics, variance analyses, and identification of financial risks and opportunities. This position collaborates with both Product and Operations business partners in developing all of these elements.
• Build financial models and provide financial analysis to assist with the evaluation of cost/benefits for prospective business initiatives, proposals, and contract re-negotiations with 3rd party vendors.
• Participate in the collection and delivery of key information, including the preparation of presentations and ad hoc reporting for the respective business management teams.
• Understand and draw appropriate conclusions from the analysis of financial performance versus plan, forecast and pro forma benchmarks.
• Maintain and enhance sub-product P&L’s for the businesses, allowing both product and senior management to assess growth potential within each of the product segments, as well as assist in validating new business pricing.
Qualifications/Skill Set:
• Communication Skills – Ability to convey financial information in a clear, succinct way to senior level management, both written and orally.
• Analytical Skills – Strong attention to detail in order to understand unit cost and build complex financial models using cost drivers to forecast expense is imperative. Ability to follow and understand complex cash flows – Given the transactional nature of the business, understanding the core transaction process from end to end for each product adds significant understanding of the impact to the P&L.
• Technical Skills – Possess advanced working knowledge of the following: Hyperion/Essbase, Excel (including advanced logic statements, v-lookup, pivots), and PowerPoint). SAP & Paragon experience is a plus. Working knowledge of GAAP policies regarding expense vs. revenue recognition as well as expense classification is beneficial.
• Organizational Skills – Ability to prioritize and manage workflow effectively.
• Bachelors in Finance or Accounting with 3-5yrs. relevant work experience as a financial analyst. Financial Services experience a plus.
